PorchLight Insights was co-founded by Kate Bender and Julie Steenson, who collectively bring more than 30 years of experience in performance management, continuous improvement, and data storytelling.
PorchLight Insights was born from our belief that all organizations can use data to improve.
We work with organizations across the public sector, including cities, counties, MPOs, foundations, universities, and nonprofits. Our projects have involved performance management coaching and training, data analysis and storytelling, survey implementation, community engagement, and organizational process improvements. We are a Kansas City-certified WBE/SBE/SLBE and a Missouri-certified DBE.
Our team is grounded in local government management experience and culture. Prior to starting PorchLight Insights, Kate and Julie worked collaboratively across three mayoral administrations and four city managers in the City of Kansas City, Missouri where we led initiatives in performance management, process improvement, strategic planning, budgeting, economic mobility, and employee engagement, always through the lens of data. Our newest team member, Lauron Fischer, brings experience in local government budgeting, as well as data management, analysis, visualization, and dashboards.
